Support Group Updates

The CMTA is working hard to provide the services of a support group to everyone, but there may not be a group in your state or area. (You can check the listings for your state and nearby states on our Resources page.) If there isn’t, and if you would like to attend or start a support group in your area, please click here to let us know.

Philadelphia/Chester PA Area Support Group

Because the CMTA will be hosting a Patient-Family Conference at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 5, 2008, our group will not hold its next meeting until the third Saturday in June.

We hope everyone will join us at the conference, and we will provide program details and information on how to register as soon as the schedule is set.

In tbe meantime if you would like to be placed on the list to receive notification of the next support group meeting, please call (1-800-606-2682) or email pat@charcot-marie-tooth.org.

Las Vegas, Nevada, Support Group

The next meeting of the Las Vegas CMT Support Group will be on Saturday, May 17, 2008, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., at the West Charleston Library, 6301 West Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV.

The special guest at this meeting will be A. Scott Martin, MD, from A S Martin Orthopedics Sports Medicine and General Orthopedics, a group specializing in general orthopedics, sports medicine, joint reconstruction, total knee and hip replacement, minimally invasive surgery, computer assisted surgery (CAS) navigation, and adult and pediatric orthopedic trauma. Dr. Martin will be sharing valuable information on pain management.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact Mary Fatzinger (702)369-6095 or Amy Anderson (702)822-6920.

**New** Atlanta, GA, Area Support Group

Susan Ruediger will hold the first meeting of a CMT Support Group in the Atlanta area at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Cliff Valley School Library, 2426 Clairmont Rd NE, Atlanta, GA.

This first meeting will provide a great opportunity to meet Sue and other people with CMT in the Atlanta area, and there will be time to share resources, ideas and CMT related information. Sue currently plans to hold the meetings on the third Saturday of every other month, and the scheduling of topics and presenters for future meetings will be open for discussion.

If you plan to attend, or if you would like more information, please call Sue at 678-595-2817 or email her at cmtasg_atlanta@charcot-marie-tooth.org.
